Deploying and scaling containerized Microservices with Docker and SwarmWorkshop Short Label: Microservices Workshop
You started to use Docker to put your applications in containers. Great! But how do you deploy to production? What modifications are necessary to make your application scalable and available? How do we setup a Docker cluster? What about logging, metrics, and all the other operational requirements of production? In this workshop, we will answer those questions using tools from the Docker ecosystem, with a strong focus on the native orchestration capabilities available since Docker Engine 1.12, aka “Swarm Mode”. Each attendee will get a private cluster of five nodes. We will setup this cluster with “Swarm Mode” and deploy a demo app with web frontends, web services, background workers, and stateful data stores. Then we will scale that application and deal with logging, metrics, and more. You don’t have to pre-install Docker to attend; all you need is a computer with a web browser and a SSH client.
